Australian playground & outdoor fitness standards
Playground and outdoor fitness standards set out the requirements for the development, installation, inspection, maintenance and operation of equipment in public spaces across Australia. They exist to protect users of all ages and give councils, schools and landscape architects confidence that equipment is safe, durable and fit for purpose.
Playground standards
ForPark playground equipment complies with the following standards as a minimum:
- AS 4685:2021 “Playground Equipment” (set)
- AS 4685.0:2017 “Playground equipment and surfacing – Development, installation, inspection, maintenance and operation.”
- AS 4422 (Int):2022 “Playground surfacing” Specifications, requirements and test method
Outdoor fitness standards
Our outdoor fitness equipment, including the ParkFit range, is manufactured to AS 16630:2021 “Permanently installed outdoor fitness equipment – Safety requirements and test methods”. This standard sets out the safety, construction and testing requirements specific to permanently installed, freely accessible outdoor gym and fitness equipment, giving you confidence that our fitness stations are held to the same rigorous benchmark as our playground equipment.
Meeting these standards as a baseline means every ForPark playground and outdoor fitness installation is designed, manufactured and installed with safety and compliance built in from the outset.
